"And in that moment..."
"And in that moment…” is a body of work in which I explore the very real curiosities we all have with life and death, and why it is not talked about more as a society.
This project started when I visited what is known as a Death Cafe. This Death Cafe sparked my interest in how we choose to grieve and our process of mourning. Loss is something we often do not talk about and is shunned from conversation, apart from in these small spaces where people choose to connect often with strangers and open up about their experiences.
This collection of work thus far shows my progression from understanding little about the mourning process, having not experienced a significant death in my family or close circle of friends, to having a better understanding through numerous portraits and landscapes. Each person I have photographed I have had a conversation with regarding perception and experience with death. These conversations were with frequenters of the Death Cafes, members of the Widowed and Young Charity and close friends.
